Time to update my “About” page – I’m 60!

Sitting on a burial chamber – Sanday, Orkney Islands

There is a major update to my blog – I’m 60!

No longer are these the musings of a fifty-something but a sixty-something. Ten whole years ahead of me before I need to refresh on this topic – lucky you the reader!

How ironic that my desire to update my About page coincided with an urgent desire to listen to Bruce Springsteen.

He is like an old friend – wish he was!!

Springsteen has been with me for even longer than my favourite person, albeit only by a few years. Through my teens, 20s, 30s, 40s and yes my 50s! It was however only in my 50s that I finally saw him live, twice in fact.

Still, this is post is about my About page, so as I listen to Springsteen’s 2014 Sydney concert through my headphones at a suitable volume I have set about updating my About page.

This blog was established in 2012 to provide a place for the musings of a then 50 something, now 60 something male well into the next phase of his life.

60 seems a milestone in the way that 50 wasn’t. Was it the comments of my natural mother who seemed to place great significance on this birthday or the events of the year at the family level, our eldest son’s marriage and the birth of our middle child’s baby our first grandchild or something else? I don’t know but it was something that made this birthday seem more significant.

What will my next decade hold?

A completed PhD? I certainly expect so, but what will come after its completion remains a mystery?

A continuation of momentous family events, whatever they may be?

My continued love of music and the opportunity to travel with my favourite person are I think a given.

Perhaps Arsenal under Unai Emery will win the Premier League – that’s a long bow but The Adelaide Crows may well win an AFL Premiership.

This decade is very much the living of “What’s Next” – Bring it on!

I’m old but not as old as the Standing Stones, Orkney Islands!

      Thanks Clive.
Can’t see why it won’t be. I think the EPL will be a hard ask for all but City and perhaps Liverpool as they seem to have the deepest pockets at the moment.

I am with you on that one. If it wasn’t that the Liverpool – Man U game is on at 2.30am I would be watching it.

That’s the problem with time zones! It’s at 4pm our time. Can you record it then watch it as live, before finding out the result? That’s the next best thing, and would be a good excuse for breakfast in front of the tv 😊

Yes I could do that. We have a great EPL service. Unlike the UK we get every game live or they able to be watched on delay.
I do occasionally get up in the middle of the night to watch.

We get more than enough coverage as it is, I don’t think I could cope with every game! Hope you get to see it without sleep deprivation 😊
